Cooking Hood (Emhætte)

Cooking hoods can collect a lot of grease and oil, especially when they haven't been cleaned for a while.

Removing stubborn grease may require extra time, patience and a little scrubbing.

Deep cleaning of cooking hoods is typically performed during move-out cleanings and deep cleans.

01 / How to Clean the Cooking Hood

Make sure to clean all the following areas:

  1. Exterior: Wipe down the entire outside of the cooking hood, removing grease and stains.

  2. Pull-Out Section: If the hood has a pull-out section, clean the top and surrounding areas where grease collects.

  3. Filters: Remove the filters and clean them by hand using dish soap and a brush, or in the dishwasher if the manufacturer allows it.

  4. Inside the Hood: Clean the accessible areas underneath and behind the filters, where grease often builds up.

  5. Bottom Surface: Thoroughly clean the underside of the cooking hood.

02 / Equipment Needed

  • Cleaning brush

  • Cleaning sponge

  • Universal cleaner

  • Dish soap (for filters)

03 / Attention to Detail

Old grease and oil stains can be stubborn, so take your time and use the appropriate cleaning tools.

Avoid abrasive scrubbing that could damage the surface, and never apply cleaning products to electrical components.

The goal is a completely grease-free and stain-free result – inside, outside, underneath, and on the filters.
