Sinks

Sinks are used every day and quickly collect soap residue, toothpaste, food particles, limescale and dirt.

At Shyne, we make sure every sink is thoroughly cleaned while protecting its material and finish.

01 / Different Types of Sinks

Know your surface before you clean.

Sinks come in different materials, and not all cleaning products or equipment are suitable for every surface.

The most common sink materials are:

  1. Ceramic / Porcelain – Durable, but avoid abrasive tools that could scratch the glaze.

  2. Stainless Steel – Use a soft brush or cloth. Avoid rough sponges that can leave scratches.

  3. Natural Stone (Marble, Granite, etc.) – Use suitable pH-neutral products. Never use acidic limescale remover on marble or other acid-sensitive stone.

  4. Plastic / Polypropylene – Clean gently to avoid scratching the surface.

  5. Composite / Artificial Stone (Corian, Silestone, etc.) – Follow the manufacturer's cleaning recommendations. Avoid unsuitable chemicals and abrasive equipment.

  6. Concrete – Can be sensitive to acids and moisture. Only use products approved for the specific surface.

Remember: Always check the material before choosing your cleaning products.

Equipment Needed

  • Soft cleaning brush

  • Blue microfiber cloth

  • Turbo Sanitet (green bathroom cleaner), if suitable for the surface

  • Soft sponge (if needed)

  • Clean water

The soft cleaning brush is our preferred tool for most sinks and faucets, as it helps reach corners and small details without aggressive scrubbing.

However, even brushes can scratch delicate finishes, so always use a suitable soft brush.

02 / Sink Stoppers

Small details make a big difference.

Sink stoppers often collect soap residue, limescale and dirt.

Many have metal or coated finishes that can be scratched by rough cleaning equipment.

How to Clean a Sink Stopper

  1. Apply a suitable cleaner to your soft cleaning brush.

  2. Gently scrub the stopper, including the edges and underside where accessible.

  3. Remove any visible dirt and residue.

  4. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

  5. Wipe dry with a clean cloth.

Important: Never use the rough side of a sponge or abrasive tools on delicate or coated stoppers.

A clean stopper should be free from dirt and stains without scratches or damage.

03 / Faucets

Keep the shine. Protect the finish.

Faucets come in different materials and finishes, including chrome, stainless steel, brass and coated surfaces.

Using rough sponges or unsuitable chemicals can cause permanent damage.

How to Clean a Faucet

  1. Apply a suitable cleaner to a soft brush or cloth.

  2. Gently clean the faucet, including the handle, base, spout and underneath.

  3. Pay attention to joints, edges and hard-to-reach areas.

  4. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

  5. Wipe dry with a blue microfiber cloth.

Never use the rough side of a sponge on faucets.

If limescale is present, only use a compatible limescale remover when permitted by the manufacturer's instructions.

04 / How to Clean a Sink & Faucet

Step 1 – Choose the Right Cleaner

Check the sink and faucet materials.

For compatible bathroom surfaces, use Turbo Sanitet and a soft cleaning brush.

Step 2 – Apply the Product

Apply the cleaner to your brush and the sink surface where suitable.

Avoid spraying sensitive fixtures or surrounding materials directly.

Step 3 – Clean the Sink

Gently scrub the sink, paying attention to:

  • Bottom and sides

  • Corners and edges

  • Around the drain

  • Areas behind and underneath the faucet

Step 4 – Clean the Faucet & Stopper

Use the soft brush to clean the faucet, including small joints and hard-to-reach areas.

Clean the sink stopper thoroughly, including underneath where accessible.

Step 5 – Rinse

Rinse the sink, faucet and stopper with clean water.

Make sure no cleaning product remains.

Step 6 – Wipe Dry

Use a clean blue microfiber cloth to dry and polish the sink and faucet.

This helps prevent watermarks and gives a beautiful finish.

Step 7 – The Final Shyne Touch (Optional)

For compatible surfaces, finish by polishing the faucet with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.

Glass cleaner may be used for an extra shine only if it is suitable for the specific finish.

The Shyne Standard

Before finishing, check that:

  • The sink is free from dirt, soap residue and visible stains.

  • The faucet is clean and shiny.

  • The sink stopper is thoroughly cleaned.

  • Corners, edges and hard-to-reach areas have received attention.

  • All surfaces are rinsed and wiped dry.
