Refrigerator & Freezer

Refrigerators and freezers store our clients' food, so hygiene is especially important.

At Shyne, we make sure every surface is thoroughly cleaned without leaving harmful chemical residue.

01 / Equipment Needed

  • Clean blue microfiber cloth

  • Clean water

  • Dry cloth or kitchen towel

Important: Only use clean water inside refrigerators and freezers. Do not use cleaning chemicals unless they are specifically approved for food-contact areas and authorised by your manager.

02 / Prepare for Cleaning

Make room for a thorough clean.

For move-out cleanings and other jobs where interior cleaning is included:

  1. Make sure the refrigerator or freezer is empty.

  2. Carefully remove all removable shelves and drawers.

  3. Place the components somewhere safe while cleaning.

Never force frozen drawers or shelves. If the freezer needs defrosting, follow the manufacturer's instructions and the job requirements.

03 / How to Clean a Refrigerator or Freezer

Step 1 – Clean the Interior

Using a clean blue cloth and water, wipe down all interior surfaces.

Pay special attention to corners, edges and any yellow stains or food residue.

Step 2 – Clean the Rubber Door Seal

Carefully wipe along the entire rubber seal, including the folds where dirt and food residue often collect.

Be gentle to avoid damaging the rubber.

Step 3 – Clean the Door & Frame

Wipe the inside of the door, door edges and frame.

Make sure no stains or dirt remain around the edges.

Step 4 – Clean Shelves & Drawers

Clean all removable shelves and drawers separately using clean water and a cloth.

Pay attention to corners, grooves and hard-to-reach areas.

Rinse if necessary and dry thoroughly.

Step 5 – Reassemble

Once everything is clean and dry, carefully return all shelves and drawers to their correct positions.

Make sure everything fits properly.

Step 6 – Clean the Exterior

Finish by wiping down the refrigerator or freezer exterior with a suitable cleaner and clean cloth.

Remember:

  • Door fronts

  • Handles and built-in grips

  • Accessible sides and edges

  • Areas around the door

Before finishing, make sure:

  • All visible stains and food residue are removed.

  • Interior surfaces are clean and dry.

  • No cleaning products have been left inside.
