Drains

Drain cleaning is not usually part of our standard cleaning service. However, it is included in Selected Homes apartments, move-out cleanings, deep cleans, or when requested by a client.

For most jobs, we focus on cleaning the drain covers, removable parts and water traps (vandlås), rather than the drain pipes themselves.

01 / Sink Drains

How to Clean a Sink Drain

  1. Disassemble: Carefully remove the sink stopper and any removable parts. Some may need to be unscrewed.

  2. Clean: Scrub the stopper and removable parts using a suitable cleaning product and brush.

  3. Remove Build-Up: Remove visible hair, grease and debris from the accessible drain area.

  4. Reassemble: Put all parts back correctly and check that the drain works properly.

02 / Shower Drains

How to Clean a Shower Drain

Shower drains come in different designs, but the cleaning procedure is generally the same.

  1. Disassemble: Carefully remove the drain cover and removable parts. Some may require a screwdriver.

  2. Remove the Water Trap: Take out the removable water trap (vandlås), if accessible.

  3. Remove Build-Up: Clear away hair, grease and other debris.

  4. Clean: Thoroughly scrub the removable parts using a brush, sponge and suitable cleaning product.

  5. Reassemble: Put everything back correctly and check that the water drains properly.

Pay special attention to the water trap, where hair and grease often accumulate.

03 / Drain Maintenance

Selected Homes Apartments

For Selected Homes apartments, we generally perform maintenance cleaning rather than dismantling and deep-cleaning the drains.

Follow the location-specific procedure and only use drain-cleaning products approved by Shyne.

Where a full drain clean is required:

  1. Complete the regular drain cleaning procedure.

  2. If needed, use a pipe-cleaning brush on accessible areas.

  3. Flush the drain according to the approved maintenance instructions.

Important: Do not pour boiling water or use chemical drain cleaners unless the procedure has been confirmed as safe for the specific drain and pipe materials.
